Overview of Ghost Production Terminology
The Ghost Production platform uses several ghost production terminology and technical terms that describe the files, rights, and processes involved in each transaction.
This article defines the most important terms to help buyers and producers clearly understand how the platform operates.
Exclusive Track
An exclusive track is sold only once. Once purchased, it is permanently removed from the marketplace. The buyer becomes the sole copyright holder and may release it under their own artist name.
Mastered and Unmastered Versions
Mastered Version: The final, polished version optimized for release on streaming platforms.
Unmastered Version: The same track without mastering applied, typically leaving at least -3 dB of headroom. Used for label submissions or custom mastering.
Stems
Stems are individual audio tracks that make up the full production — for example, drums, bass, synths, and vocals.
They allow for remixing, rebalancing, or further mixing adjustments.
MIDI Files
MIDI files contain the musical notes and arrangements of melodies, chords, and basslines.
They let buyers study or modify the composition without affecting the sound quality.
Project File
The project file is the complete production session created in a DAW such as FL Studio, Ableton Live, or Logic Pro.
Opening it allows buyers to view and edit every element of the track exactly as the producer made it.
Project files are included only when specified on the track page.
Instrumental Version
An instrumental version is a version of a vocal track that excludes the vocals.
It is provided in both mastered and unmastered formats for performance or remix use.
Track Agreement
The track agreement is the legal document issued with every purchase. Its full name is Exclusive Track Assignment and Confidentiality Agreement. It transfers the rights in the track from the producer to the buyer and sets out what each side may and may not do.
The producer signs it electronically when submitting the track and the buyer signs it at checkout. Tracks listed before electronic signing started come with the earlier licence agreement until their producer has signed.
Confidentiality
Confidentiality is part of the track agreement. There is no separate NDA document.
The producer must never disclose having made or sold the track, who bought it or the price. The buyer must keep the identity of the producer confidential.
Semi-Instrumental Track
A semi-instrumental track uses melodic samples such as guitars or pianos from a royalty-free sample pack.
These tracks are marked as semi-instrumental and always include the sample name for full transparency.
Ghost Coins
Ghost Coins are reward points earned from purchases and sales.
They can be used for future discounts and bonuses as part of the platform’s loyalty program.
Verified Producer
A verified producer is one who has passed the platform’s verification process, meeting the quality, originality, and consistency standards required to sell on The Ghost Production.
